A prototype assistant that sits inside an existing workflow and proposes the next action instead of answering questions.
Challenge
Chat assistants make people leave their work to ask for help. The prototype tests keeping the assistant in the workflow surface itself.
Thinking
Modelled the workflow as explicit states, then let the assistant propose only transitions that are valid from the current state — reducing hallucinated advice to a bounded set.
Solution
A state-bounded in-workflow assistant prototype with a full decision log.
Build
A prototype with an inline suggestion rail, one-click apply with undo, and a decision log recording what was proposed, accepted or rejected.
Experience
Suggestions arrive as a soft rail rather than a modal — present, ignorable, never blocking.
Outcome
Prototype demonstrates state-bounded, in-context assistance. Simulated workflow data; no deployment, no adoption or productivity metrics.
Reflection
The decision log became the most useful artefact — it is what makes the assistant reviewable.
